In a combined 23-run outburst on Monday evening, the Madison-Grant Argylls came out on top, defeating the Elwood Panthers by a score of 15-8.
The Argylls set the tone in the first inning, scoring six runs, which included grand slam from freshman Chelsea Parker. Madison-Grant scored at least one run in each of the following six innings, including three in the second, two in the third, and two in the fifth.
Elwood found their offense late, scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth, but they never really threatened the Madison-Grant lead.
The Argylls compiled 13 hits in the win. Three came from Chelsea Bowland, while McKenna Lugar, Gracey Fox, Parker, and Ellie Alcala each recorded two. Parker, Lugar, and Alcala combined to drive in 10 runs.
Zoey Barnett picked up the win for Madison-Grant, giving up nine hits, but only two earned runs, while striking out one.
