Argylls fall to Elwood in error-riddled affair

Playing in their final conference game of the regular season on Thursday, the Madison-Grant Argylls were defeated by the Elwood Panthers in five sets (20-25, 29-27, 14-25, 25-7, 6-15).

Errors and miscues proved costly for the Argylls all evening, and it ultimately cost them the match.

“They had a lot of energy, so I think that helped them quite a bit,” Madison-Grant Head Coach Kayla Jump said. “I think that our girls were caught off guard a little bit. They passed pretty well, which helped their offense run, but my team makes a lot of mistakes that doesn’t have anything to do with any other team. They were ready to play and didn’t give up on the ball, and that cost us a lot of points.

“We gave them more than one set in errors. You can’t win matches by giving them full sets by your mistakes.”

Grace Holmberg and Emma Brummet each finished with 11 kills, while Daya Greene collected 26 digs on the defensive end. Alia Whitton recorded 27 assists, while Gabby Rudy served eight aces in the loss.
