Argylls overcome first quarter deficit to defeat Delta in season opener

Last season, the Madison-Grant Argylls won just three games total.

They already have one here in the early stages of the 2019-2020 campaign.

Despite struggles in the first quarter, which included 11 turnovers, the Argylls righted the ship, coming back from a seven-point deficit to defeat the Delta Eagles by a score of 37-36 on Saturday afternoon.

Trailing 13-6 after the first quarter, the Argylls, behind strong paint play from McKenna Lugar and Zoey Barnett, began working their way, cutting the Delta advantage to 21-17 at the halftime break.

Behind 10 points in the third quarter, Madison-Grant took the lead at 27-25, and behind some strong defense down the stretch, together with clutch points at the free throw line from Blayklee Stitt, the Argylls prevailed.

Lugar led the Argylls with 10 points, while Barnett finished with nine in the victory.
