Over the last month, the Eastbrook Panthers have performed well in many areas, particularly pitching and defense.
But their offense, especially their offense with runners in scoring position, has been problematic, and once again played a major role in a 7-5 loss to the Elwood Panthers onTuesday evening.
With the defeat, the Panthers’ losing streak reached nine games.
“We made a couple of errors, but to me, the biggest thing was we just left too many girls in scoring position,” Eastbrook Head Coach Harold Coates said. “We had some opportunities and had some chances to tack on a run here and there, and we just couldn’t get them across. Again, I feel like we played well enough where we gave ourselves a chance a win. Unfortunately, the other team made a couple more plays than we did.”
Angela Spurlock was 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored, while Helaina Walters finished with two hits and two RBI. Ariel Duke walked twice and scored two runs for Eastbrook.
McMillan took the loss, giving up 11 hits and seven runs, five earned, while striking out five.
