On Saturday, the Marion Giants wrapped up their regular season with a 1-2 finish in the NCC Tournament. They started with a 2-1 loss to Harrison (25-19, 16-25, 8-15), bounced back with a 2-1 win over Logansport (19-25, 25-16, 18-16), and capped off the tournament with a 2-1 defeat against Kokomo (19-25, 26-24, 8-15).
“They started putting more pieces together,” Marion Head Coach Larry Hinshaw said. “The scores were closer. We were a little more consistent. We competed better and we wanted it more, so there were a lot of good signs. It still boils down to being consistent. We are putting things together, we just have to be able to do it for the long haul.”
Ra’Shaya Kyle collected 29 kills over the three matches, while also leading the defense with 49 digs. Lucia Persinger orchestrated the offense with 63 assists.
