Against longtime NCC rival Anderson on Tuesday night at Dick Lootens Stadium, the Marion Giants dominated from start to finish, picking up their fifth win of the season with a 10-1 triumph over the Indians.
“I liked that we did a better job of using our teammates in the second half,” Marion Head Coach Jacob Boggs said. “We had 20 plus corners, so we had a lot of opportunities.”
The Giants took a 3-0 lead in the first half, before exploding for seven goals in the final 40 minutes.
Taylor Kitts recorded her fourth hat trick of the season, while Larielle Cox and Tamar Mims each collected two goals.
Cox and Mims, two players who had never played soccer before this year, continue to make tremendous progress. Their skill sets have grown with each passing contest, and they have started to grasp a better understanding of the game of soccer.
“I know they are new, but the more time they get on the field, the more confident and more mature they are in their play,” Boggs said. “Larielle is really to get the hang of it. Same with Tamar. She is really enjoying being out there going full speed.”
Aliya Willhide, Marley White, and Faith Riggs also scored in Marion’s victory.
