In their final Saturday doubleheader of the 2019 season, the Marion Giants split a two-game series with the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos, winning the first game, 15-6, before dropping the second contest, 12-8.
In the opener, the Giants scored in all but one inning, taking an 8-0 lead in the third inning and carrying that momentum throughout the rest of the contest.
Marion had a three-run lead over the Bronchos after the third inning in the second game, but Lafayette Jefferson used a four-run fourth frame to take a lead they would not relinquish.
With the playoffs set to begin, the Giants have seemingly found their offense again, and Marion Head Coach Mark Fagan hopes that the upward trend continues.
“We hit the ball hard,” Marion Head Coach Mark Fagan said. “We got some hits out of the bottom three. I told them that this is the time to get hot. If we can get the bottom three guys get hot for us hitting the ball, we can go a little bit of distance in the tournament. Against Norwell, we are going out with our best. Hopefully, everything goes well.”
