The IWU Wildcats’ baseball team began the 2018 season with a doubleheader split against Saint Xavier University. Saint Xavier won the first game, 4-2, before the Wildcats took the second game, 9-6.
IWU’s pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts, while the team as a whole stole 15 bases over the two-game series.
“We were really good today in the areas that needed to improve from a year ago,” Indiana Wesleyan head coach Rich Benjamin said. “We did a lot of foundational things well that we will build on. [I was] very pleased with the growth of our returnees and the first showing of our first year players. This team has the culture and skills to get better every week.”
