IWU softball caps perfect weekend with three more wins

The Wildcats ended the Roosevelt University Tournament with three more victories, as they defeated Judson University 6-1, Roosevelt University 5-2, and Aquinas University 1-0.

The Wildcats ended the weekend with a 5-0 record while outscoring their opponents 20-6.

In their first game against Judson, the Wildcats got on the board early, as Kristen Exposito homered to score Springer and give IWU an early 2-0 lead.

The Wildcats increased their lead to 4-0 after scoring runs in the third and fourth innings off Judson errors, and tacked on two insurance runs in the seventh inning to secure the victory.

Exposito finished 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI, while Springer went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk.

Carlie Weaver (1-0) earned the victory for the Wildcats, pitching 3.0 innings of one-run ball while striking out two.

Against Roosevelt University in the second game, the Wildcats scored single runs in the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings, as well as two runs in the sixth inning to secure the victory.

Aubrie Eckert finished a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate, scoring a run and recording an RBI, while Buckley went 3-for-4 from the dish with two stolen bases and one run scored.

Ridge (2-0) won her second game of the weekend, striking out seven over 5.0 innings.

In their final contest against Aquinas, Schrad scored the lone run for the Wildcats in the fifth inning off of a wild pitch.

Buckley and Schrad recorded the only two hits for the Wildcats in the victory.
