IWU took sole possession of first place in Crossroads League with win over USF

On Saturday, the Wildcats vaulted to the top spot in the Crossroads League standings with a huge 86-82 win over the Saint Francis Cougars.

With the win, the Wildcats have a one game lead over the Cougars with just two contests remaining in the regular season. The Wildcats will clinch a share of the Crossroads League and the No. 1 seed in the Crossroads League tournament with a win or a Saint Francis loss in the final two games.

The Wildcats have won six straight games against Saint Francis, dating back to the 2016 NAIA DII National Championship game.

Mangas led the Wildcats in scoring with 24 points, while Maxwell finished with 17 points on six-of-10 shooting. Johnson added 16 points on six-of-10 shooting to go along with five rebounds, while Canaan Coffey chipped in 15 points in the Wildcats’ victory.
