Ra’Shaya Kyle has made plenty of history in the 2019-2020 season.
She is already the Marion Giants’ all-time leading scorer, but on Wednesday night against Southwood, she took her offense to a whole other level.
The Purdue commit scored 50 points, setting a new Lady Giants’ single-game scoring, as Marion dominated Southwood in a 75-30 triumph.
“Having a 6-6 player makes things easier at times,” Marion Head Coach Lawrence Jordan said. “Tonight, [Southwood] didn’t have the athleticism or the players to match up. She got going early and put up some huge numbers by halftime. Today, Ra’Shaya was everything.”
Marion led 11-2 after the first quarter and increased that lead 24-8 at halftime. Kyle scored 24 points in the opening two quarters.
The Giants continued to build on their lead in the second half, building a 59-29 advantage after three quarters before cruising to their eventual 45-point victory.
Ellie Vermilion was also solid for the Giants, scoring 14 points in the triumph.
