Lucas, Freel to represent Grant County in state meet

Competing against some of the top-ranked high school track and field programs, and runners, in the state of Indiana, two Grant County athletes proved their merit on Tuesday evening.

In the IWU regional, Mississinewa’s Beth Lucas, who has dominated the 300 meter hurdles event all season long, made history, becoming just the second Lady Indian to advance to the IHSAA State Finals. Lucas placed third in the event with a time of 46.13.

In the Warsaw regional, Madison-Grant’s Payton Freel also punched her ticket to the state meet, placing third in the shot put with a distance of 39-06.
