Coming off their big conference win over Blackford, the Madison-Grant Argylls could not keep their momentum last Tuesday evening, falling behind early and never recovering in a 68-20 loss to the Lapel Bulldogs.
Lapel came out firing in the first half, outscoring Madison-Grant 21-5 in the first quarter and 21-3 in the second quarter to put the contest out of reach early.
“We were very sloppy in the first half,” Madison-Grant Head Coach Brandon Bradley said. “I didn’t feel like we stepped up with more of a sense of urgency.”
Despite the loss, however, the Argylls continued to show improvement on both ends of the floor, and Bradley is looking for that to continue as the season progresses.
“I thought we saw some defensive adjustments and kids rotating well to help to the ball,” Bradley said. “We also were more aggressive to the basket offensively than we’ve been this year. We have a lot of different areas we need to improve upon, so we aren’t going to focus on one or two items. We’ll just continue to work on all aspects of our game.”
Zoey Barnett led the Argylls with eight points, while Makynlee Taylor paced the Bulldogs’ offense with 12.
