In a battle between two longtime Grant County rivals, the Madison-Grant Argylls picked up their 18th win of the season on Tuesday night, defeating the Marion Giants in four sets (25-18, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19).
“It was pretty close, but serve-receive was still a bit of a struggle,” Marion Head Coach Larry Hinshaw said. “I think that, again, was the biggest factor. We had a little trouble with our defense – setting a block and then being able to put up a good block. We held our composure…and we kept fighting, so that was a positive, but in general, we just [couldn’t put it] together for a whole set.”
Ra’Shaya Kyle led the Giants with 17 kills and 26 digs, while Isabelle Bento recorded five kills and two aces. Lucie Persinger dished out 28 assists and also collected 15 digs.
Emma Brummet and Grace Holmberg co-led the Argylls with 11 kills, while Katie Garringer collected 10. Daya Greene finished with 16 digs, while Alia Whitton recorded 30 assists.
