The Mississinewa Indians’ historic 2018 campaign came to an end on Tuesday in the Marion Regional, as they were swept by the Delta Eagles, 5-0.
The Eagles won four of the five matches with relative ease. Haleigh Rowley, Heidi Rowley, and the doubles pair of Abigail Tignor and Maggie Herring each lost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles, and No. 2 doubles, respectively, while Gabby Stephenson and Heavyn Miller won just one game in a 6-0, 6-1 defeat at No. 1 doubles.
Tyra Stanley put forth a valiant effort at No. 3 singles, but lost her first match of the season in a 6-3, 7-5 defeat.
The Indians accomplished quite a bit in the 2018 campaign. Along with a first place finish in the Homestead Invitational and a conference championship, Mississinewa won their first sectional title in program history.
The Indians finish their season with a 15-3 record, with all three losses coming against ranked opponents.
