Mississinewa’s Brennan Butche has had a stellar cross country season, and that continued at the 2018 Marion IWU Cross Country Regional on Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan University.
The senior took home first place honors, recording a time of 15:27.8, 44 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, Dereck Vogel of Wabash. He will advance to the semi-state as a individual.
Eastbrook’s Benjamin Neideck also punched his ticket to the semi-state, finishing in sixth place with a time of 16:33.5.
Oak Hill advanced to the regional as a team, recording 101 points to finish in fourth place. Dillon Mitchell recorded the best time for the Golden Eagles, recording a time of 16:47.9, good for 11th place.
The Oak Hill girls cross country dominated their race on Saturday, finishing in first place with a score of 57 and having three girls place in the top 10. Mollie Gamble finished in second with a time of 18:54.8, Selah Jackson placed seventh with 19:52.7, and Kinzie Robey came in eighth with 20:01.9.
While the Mississinewa Indians did not qualify for the semi-state as a team, two individual runners did advance to the next round. Aurora Fisher finished 14th with a time of 20:23.8, while Carli Fones placed 18th with a time of 20:45.5.
