On Friday night in the friendly confines of Odle Arena, the Taylor Trojans dominated Lincoln Christian University from the opening tip to the final whistle, knocking down a season-high 18 triples in a 111-67 rout.
Along with the 18 made three point field goals, the Trojans set season bests in points (111), assists (26), field goals (40), defensive rebounds (37), shooting percentage (60.6) and three point shooting percentage (60.0).
Furthermore, their 111 points and 18 treys were the program’s most since scoring 128 points and a record 20 three-pointers in a win over Great Lakes Christian back in October 2016.
After Lincoln Christian opened the scoring, Taylor rattled off 10 straight points, and pushed the lead to double digits on back-to-back triples from Vincent Miranda and Evan Crowe. As a team, the Trojans knocked down nine straight triples, giving themselves a 55-28 advantage with 2:47 remaining in the first half.
Taylor did not let up in the second half, leading by as many 49 before eventually settling for the 44-point triumph.
Mason Degenkolb led Taylor in scoring with 27 points on 11-of-13 shooting, while Ryan Robinson came away with 16 points and nine assists and Miranda finished with 14 points and seven rebounds. Degenkolb, Miranda, Robinson, and CJ Penha combined to make 15 of 17 shots from beyond the arc.
