The Trojans closed out their six-game Florida trip with a doubleheader split against the Gyrenes on Saturday afternoon. Ave Maria won the first game 1-0 before Taylor came away with a 5-0 triumph in game two.
Taylor is now 4-2 on the season.
In game one, the Trojans allowed only two hits, but stranded 10 runners on base and allowed one unearned run in the defeat.
Tucker Waddups (0-1) took the loss, tossing four scoreless frames while striking out four. Gongwer followed with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief, while Rox retired the only two batters he faced.
In the second game, Luke Shively and Riggins combined for a three-hitter in the shutout. Shively (1-0) won his first collegiate game, allowing just one hit over four innings. Riggins finished the contest, giving up just two hits for his first collegiate save.
Taylor scored single runs in the second and sixth innings, but a three-run fifth inning put the game away. Watson and Targgart hit back-to-back doubles, McGill hit a sacrifice fly, and Lawson hit an RBI single to give the Trojans a five-run lead.
Watson finished the game 2-for-3 with two double and two runs scored, while Targgart went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI. Lawson finished with two hits and an RBI in the victory.
