Taylor continues strong home start with doubleheader sweep of Oakland City

Taylor improved to 13-1 at Winterholter Field on Saturday afternoon, defeating Oakland City University, 11-3 and 8-2, to improve to 19-5 on the season.

With their two wins on Saturday, the Trojans have won 14 of their last 15 games.

In game one, the Trojans scored four runs in the first inning before adding three runs in the third and four runs in the sixth to secure the eight-run victory.

Watson led the Trojans with three hits and two RBI, while Adkins stole three bases, doubles, and scored one run. Mettica finished with three RBI and two hits.

Clay Riggins (3-0) tossed 5.2 quality innings before Drake Gongwer recorded the final four outs for his first collegiate save.

In game two, after a scoreless two innings, the Trojans scored eight runs across the final four innings to come away with the victory.

Lane, Watson, Whitman, and Lane each recorded two hits, while Whitman and Mettica each had a triple. Lane scored one run, hit an RBI, and stole two bases.

Kennedy (1-1) earned the win in relief, allowing just one hit and no runs in 3.0 innings.
