On Wednesday afternoon, the Taylor Trojans ended their regular season with a victory, scoring twice in the second half to defeat the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars, 2-1.
Taylor controlled possession throughout most of the contest, outshooting the Cougars 10-6, which included seven shots on frame.
Morgan Orme broke the scoreless tie in the 49th minute, dribbling through the defense and delivering a curling shot inside the far post.
Linli Tu added to Taylor’s lead in the 78th minute, scoring her sixth goal of the season on a penalty kick.
Missy Emery cut the Trojans’ advantage in half with two minutes remaining, but they were unable to net the equalizer.
With the victory, Taylor finished in fifth place in the Crossroads League.
