After going 1-1 on the first day of the Hope International Tournament, the Taylor Trojans picked up a pair of losses on Thursday, falling to La Sierra University, 3-0, in the first match before dropping a five-set thriller to Benedictine-Mesa in the second contest.
Against La Sierra, the Trojans again struggled with miscues. They committed 26 hitting errors, 10 service errors, and five receiving errors in the loss.
Kacy Bragg finished with six kills and a .385 attack percentage for the Trojans, to go along with 14 assists and three blocks.
After falling behind two sets to Benedictine, the Trojans came roaring back, winning the third and fourth sets 28-26 and 25-20, respectively, but were unable to keep up their momentum in the finale in what was an eventual 15-8 defeat.
Ryan Czernaik and Julia Pomerenke combined for 22 kills, while Bragg dished out 26 assists. Samantha Korn led the Taylor defense with 25 digs, while Grace Issacs recorded six blocks.
