Trojans rally to defeat Goshen

After falling behind by as many as 17 points in the first half against Goshen on Saturday evening, the Taylor Trojans came roaring back, using a 30-4 run to eventually defeat the Leafs, 71-68, in overtime.

The Trojans started off the game shooting just three-of-21 from the floor, while the Leafs knocked down five of their first nine shots from beyond the arc to open a 27-10 lead.

Taylor showed no quit, however, scoring the next 15 points and outscoring the Leafs 19-2 the rest of the way to tie the game at 29 heading into the break. The Trojans’ run carried over into the second half, using an 11-2 surge to take a 40-31 lead.

Just when the game seemed to be in control, Goshen came back with a run of their own, outscoring the Trojans 17-8 to tie the game up before eventually taking a 60-57 lead with 2:46 to play in regulation.

TU leading scorer Ryan Robinson took over from there, scoring 10 points over the close of regulation and overtime to help the Trojans complete the comeback. Robinson scored 13 of the Trojans’ final 20 points, and finished the game with 17 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks.

Mason Degenkolb scored 15 points, while the tandem of Jason Hubbard and Jake Heggeland teamed up for 20 points and 15 rebounds in the Trojans’ victory.
