On Wednesday night at Odle Arena, the No. 15 ranked Taylor Trojans’ lengthy win streak continued, reaching 27 consecutive regular season games in an 86-75 triumph over Grace College.
Becca Buchs was the star of the show, scoring 21 points and becoming the 25th player in program history to reach the 1,000 point mark. As of Wednesday, Buchs now has 1,020 career points in the Purple and Gold.
Buchs came out firing, scoring 14 points on four threes in the first quarter. Furthermore, she recorded five rebounds and a steal, as the Trojans built a 23-18 lead after the first 10 minutes.
The Trojans built their advantage to 18 points in the second quarter, before stretching that lead to a game-high 24 points in the third quarter on an 11-0 run.
Grace was able to cut Taylor’s advantage to single digits in the fourth quarter, but they were unable to get any closer than nine points. Sydney Huffman helped to put the game away for the Trojans, scoring seven of her career-high 17 points in the frame.
Along with winning their 27th straight regular season contest, Wednesday’s victory marked their 21st straight conference win, their 18th straight triumph at Odle Arena, and their eighth straight double-digit win.
Becca Buchs led the way with 21 points and 13 rebounds, recording her fourth double-double of the season, while Abby Buchs collected 14 points and 12 rebounds.
For the game, Taylor shot 48.4 percent (31-of-64) from the field and 47.1 percent (16-of-34) from beyond the arc.
