For the second time in the last three days, the Trojans’ offense exploded to score double-digit runs. Following a first game defeat, TU recorded its second win of the young season in a 10-7 triumph over Ottawa University – Arizona in the nightcap.

The Trojans opened the scoring in the first inning. After West reached first on an Ottawa fielding error, Kanai double put two runners on with only one out. Wilson followed with an RBI bunt, plating West from third.

TU increased its advantage to 5-0 in the second frame, all of which came with two outs. Another error by the Spirit put Lexi Abruzzo on first, and four straight knocks, including a double by Wilson, led to four more runs for the Trojans.

Ottawa (1-1) did not go quietly, tying the game at 5-5 in the bottom half of the second, but the Trojans regained the lead for good in the top of the fourth on Wilson’s third RBI of the contest.

Taylor added four more insurance runs in the final three innings, securing the three-run victory.

Kanai pitched 4.1 innings, giving up just two earned runs on six hits, while Maddi Evans collected her first save of the campaign, recording the final four outs of the game.

In the opener, the Spirit scored two runs in the second inning to grab the early advantage, and notched single runs in the third, fifth, and sixth innings to increase their lead to 5-0 heading into the final frame.

Ottawa’s Bailey Coronado kept the Trojans’ offense in check in the first six innings, allowing just four hits while striking out five.

The Trojans scored both their runs in the bottom of the seventh. Ashton Whitman singled home Grim and Nicole Brindle scored on an Ottawa error, but they would not get any closer in the 5-2 defeat.
