On Wednesday, the Taylor Trojans continued their winning ways, using strong bench play and some excellent free throw shooting to defeat the Goshen Maple Leafs 76-67.
After taking a 21-15 lead after the first quarter of play, the Trojans were able to take control of the contest in the second stanza, holding the Maple Leafs to six points on just 21.4 percent shooting. The Trojans, on the other hand, scored 20 points.
From that moment on, the Trojans never trailed, leading by as many as 17 in the second half before cruising to the nine-point victory.
Kayla Kirtley, Merideth Deckard, and Madisyn Fischer combined for 36 points off the bench for Taylor. Kirtey led the Trojans with a career-high 18 points, scoring 15 in the second half, while Deckard finished with 10 points.
Becca Buchs was second on the Trojans with 15 points, while Abby Buchs collected 12 points and seven rebounds.
