Despite trailing after the sixth inning of play, the Taylor Trojans kept their perfect record intact on Friday morning, scoring four runs in the eighth to defeat the University of the Southwest 8-5.
With the Mustangs holding a 5-4 advantage late in the game, the Trojans went right to work in the eighth inning. Nick Rusche hit the game-winning RBI single with two outs in the inning, and Connor Crawford followed with a two-run double to help secure Taylor’s victory.
Rusche finished 2-for-4 in the contest, extending his hitting streak to seven games, while Fields finished with two hits.
Tucker Waddups earned the victory, giving up just two walks in a pair of scoreless frames.
