Back in January in their home game against Mount Vernon Nazarene University, Becca Buchs hit the game-winning three with time winding down to help Taylor escape with a win.
Fast forward to Tuesday evening, and the Trojans once again faced a deficit against MVNU late in the contest.
And once again, Buchs delivered, sinking the game-winning triple from the corner with two seconds remaining to lift Taylor over MVNU 68-66 in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals.
After three quarters, the game was knotted up at 51-51, and throughout the fourth, neither team could create much separation. The Cougars took their first lead of the quarter with just over two minutes to go, but Buchs hit a three to help the Trojans regain the advantage.
However, the Cougars proved they would not go quietly, responding with a three-pointer of their own to take a 66-65 lead with 5.9 seconds remaining.
Following the ensuing timeout, Haley Stratman passed the ball to Buchs in the corner, and the senior made no mistake, hitting nothing but twine to help Taylor secure the victory.
Buchs was dominant throughout the contest, leading all scorers with 28 points and finishing with seven makes from the perimeter.
Jamie Netzley collected 11 points and nine rebounds, while Abby Buchs finished with 12 points and nine boards on 50 percent shooting.
