Playing in their first home doubleheader of the season on Tuesday afternoon, the Taylor Trojans picked up two more wins, defeating the Defiance College Yellowjackets by scores of 17-2 and 4-3.
Brian Fields led the Trojan offense in game one, collecting two home runs and seven runs batted in the opener. The senior finished four-for-four in game one, before collecting another knock in the nightcap.
In game two, the Trojans trailed 3-0 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, but Field ignited the comeback with a single. Brett Lawson kept the rally going with a base hit, and Matt Dutkowski forced extra innings with an RBI single.
Jacob Morris recorded a one out double in the eighth inning, and later scored on a Yellow Jacket fielding error, helping the Trojans secure the victory.
Cy Stanley earned his first win of the 2020 season, logging the final six outs of the contest and holding Defiance scoreless in his two innings of work.
In the first game, the Trojan offense was relentless, collecting 17 hits and scoring one or more runs in all six innings.
Fields, Morris, TJ Bass, Kade Vander Molen, and Nick Rusche each recorded multiple hits in the opener, while Conner Crawford recorded a three-run home run and four RBI.
Alec Holcomb picked the victory, collecting three strikeouts.
