On Saturday afternoon, the Taylor Trojans continued their dominant play in the Crossroads League, sweeping the Huntington Foresters in a two-game series. The Trojans won the first game, 12-5, and the second contest, 8-2.
The Trojans hit four home runs in game one, as Courtney Moriarty went yard twice and both Hannah Castor and Maddi Evans homered as well. It was the first time this season that the Trojans hit four home runs in a single contest. Moriarty drove in five runs, while the Trojans scored 12 runs on 16 hits.
Jessica Doctor earned her ninth win of the 2019 season, giving up just one run on four hits while striking out five. Darby Shaw notched the save, recording three strikeouts over the final three innings.
In the second contest, Lauren Kanai led the way both on the mound and at the plate. She picked up her 11th win of the season, recording six strikeouts and giving up two runs on six hits in 6.1 innings of work. At the plate, Kanai went 3-for-3, including a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
