Continuing their Spring Break trip in Florida last Tuesday afternoon, the IWU Wildcats recorded two more wins, defeating Cornerstone University 6-0 and University of Michigan-Dearborn 5-2.
Against the Eagles, IWU took an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, as Rebecca Schrad scored on an error. Miranda Wehrle hit a solo home run in the third, and Schrad added to IWU’s lead with an RBI double.
The Wildcats scored three more runs in the final three innings, securing the shutout.
Wehrle put together an excellent performance, recording three RBI on three hits, while Mady McMillan pitched a complete game shutout, allowing only four hits in her second win of the season.
In their second game of the day, IWU scored four of their five runs in the fourth inning. Caroline Jones started the scoring with a two-run single, Sydney Williams hit a sacrifice fly, and Michaela Loveless capped off the inning with an RBI base hit.
Schrad added a little insurance in the sixth, recording an RBI single.
Abbie Benham picked up the victory, allowing just one hit and two runs while striking out three.
