Wildcats remain undefeated with doubleheader sweep of IU Southeast

The IWU Wildcats’ softball team continued their perfect season on Monday afternoon, sweeping IU Southeast, 8-1 and 3-1, to move to 9-0 on the year.

In game one, the Wildcats scored five of their eight runs in the seventh inning, their most in a single inning this season.

Carlie Weaver earned the victory in the first contest, allowing just one hit in five innings of work, while Kristen Exposito finished with a double and three RBI.

McKenzey Ridge continued her tremendous start to the season in game two, striking out four over seven dominant innings. Ridge now has 31 strikeouts, which puts her in the top-15 pitchers in the country. Along with that, she has a 0.58 ERA, giving up just three runs and 19 hits so far this season.

Lauren Buckley and Victoria Boyer each recorded two hits and an RBI in the game two victory.

“Their grit and fight today was impressive,” head coach Steve Babinski said. “Our defense and pitching has been our backbone of this young season. I am so excited to continue to see teams play for God by playing for each other.”
