Eastbrook shuts out South Adams in regular season finale

The Panthers righted the ship on Thursday, ending their regular season with a 5-0 win over the South Adams Starfires.

Even though the Panthers played well enough to come away with the victory, Hallis noticed that the team was tired after playing three games in the last four days.

“[A lot of our success] came from just going out there and executing,” Hallis said. “We played our game through the midfield. We were a little tired tonight. It wasn’t that we played poorly, but we played a lot faster on [earlier this week] then we did tonight.”

Noah Ross, Zane Shilts, Stephen Lakanen, John Velasquez, and Garrett Holder all scored for Eastbrook.

With the regular season now over, the focus shifts to next Wednesday night, where the Panthers will either face Delta or New Castle.

Regardless of whichever team they end up facing, Hallis believes that his team will be ready to go against either opponent.

“I am pretty confident in the system we play,” Hallis said. “Soccer can be matchup-oriented, but it’s not as matchup oriented as playing a certain team in basketball or having to prepare for a triple option in football. We will work on being more compact [on defense,] but we won’t change much in [terms of] formation.

“The guys know how to play the system we want to play, so we will work on touch [as well as ironing] out the kinks.”
