Taylor ends regular season with draw

In their final match of the regular season, neither the Taylor Trojans nor the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougars could find the back of the net, resulting in a 0-0 draw on Wednesday evening.

With the tie, the Cougars finished in fourth place in the Crossroads League, while the Trojans claimed fifth place honors.

The Trojans outshot the Cougars, 15-11, and placed seven shots on-frame, but MVNU goalkeeper Anna Chrysler was on her game, making seven saves to keep the contest scoreless.

The Trojans recorded two shots early, but both were saved by Chrysler. The offense came to life in the second half, recording seven shots, three of which came in the last three minutes of regulation. But, again, the MVNU defense held firm.

Taylor came away with another four shots in the overtime periods, but could not score.

Freshman Erin Teevans had five shot attempts, while Bailey Zehr and Jourdan Lehman each recorded four shots.

The Trojans captured their 10th shutout of the season, and third in a row. Megan Williams wrapped up her fifth shutout of the season, making two saves in the draw, both of which came in overtime.

These two teams will face off again in the Crossroads League Tournament Quarterfinals, which will begin on October 31.
